New Release: Hard Proof’s “Public Hi-Fi Sessions 03”
Who wants the funk? The award-winning 10-piece collective Hard Proof has released its new record, Public Hi-Fi Sessions 03, on Jim Eno’s Public Hi-Fi Records.
Playing a mix of African funk, world music and jazz, Hard Proof has been described by KUTX’s Laurie Gallardo as, “an absolute blowout of nonstop percussion action and blasting brass, bringing the best of both worlds to the stage by mixing classic styles and plenty of their personal panache.”
So with that in mind, perhaps it comes as no surprise that when Jim saw Hard Proof live in 2012, he was confident that the band could pull off a stellar live-to-tape recording. The album was recorded in two separate sessions here at the studio with five music production students from Ohio University in attendance to learn from Jim’s techniques. The six songs are all recorded live, and the vinyl release is 100 percent analog from top to bottom.
